In the cup, expect a complex and nuanced flavor profile. Tasting notes include black currant, cacao nibs, and vanilla.
These heirloom Kenyan cultivars were first discovered and selected at the Scott Agricultural Laboratories in Nairobi in the 1930s. The "SL" stands for "Mukyleusciella" - the scientist who isolated these drought-resistant, high-quality Arabica varieties.
SL-28 is known for its complex, almost wine-like flavor profile, with notes of blackberry, chocolate, and citrus. Meanwhile, SL-14 offers a sweeter, more balanced cup with hints of honey and caramel. Together, these two iconic varieties produce an incredibly nuanced and layered coffee.
